Spring into the Season
An overview of our spring meets by Anita Foxford.
Porth Beach
Porth saw 24 units joining us for a relaxed and sociable weekend. Friday treated us to a stunning sunset—perfect for easing into the weekend. Saturday brought adventures along the coast path into Newquay, with some taking the bus for a more leisurely journey. After exploring the town, a few of us might have stumbled across a local pub or two for a well-earned refreshment.
Higher Well – Surprise Celebrations!
A big shout-out to Hazel and Ian Howe who not only stewarded this meet but organised a surprise celebration for Colin and Shirley—marking their 50th wedding anniversary and Shirley’s 70th birthday. What a milestone, and what a lovely way to honour it. Saturday night was made even better with the arrival of a fish and chip van—simple pleasures done just right!
Atlantic Camping, Bude – Easter Weekend Fun
We had a bumper turnout of 29 units at Bude for the Easter weekend, and the DA certainly delivered on the entertainment. Friday night was a laid-back social in the barn, but Saturday kicked things up a gear with live music and dancing. Sunday featured a DA-organised walk into Bude—around 6 miles in total—and those who made it were rewarded with sunshine, good food, and of course, refreshments! Sunday night brought more music, more dancing, and the traditional Easter Bonnet parade.
Harford Bridge
With 24 units joining us, Harford Bridge gave us a picturesque weekend with flat pitches, friendly ducks, and easy access to Dartmoor and Tavistock. Some walked, others took the bus, and everyone made the most of the spring weather. A few lucky campers found the recently reopened Trout and Tickle pub—a great surprise when so many others are closing. We ended the weekend with a lovely Sunday morning coffee, catching up.
