Mayflower 400 celebrations

Mayflower 400 Celebrations

Tamar DA welcomes members to its THS site in Plymouth as part of the city’s Mayflower 400 Celebrations from the 12th – 20th September at Newnham Park, Plymouth.

The 16th September 2020 marks the 400th anniversary since the Mayflower set sail from Plymouth’s harbour to the United States, and to celebrate the city of Plymouth is hosting a range of events across Mayflower Week (14-20 September). These events include:

  • 14-20 September – Mayflower Week:

This memorable week of activities will see daily fly pasts, a visit from the Matthew (a replica 15th century tall ship) and several unmissable events, all of which will be free to attend.

  • 16 September – Mayflower Ceremony:

A four-nations civic ceremony commemorating the Mayflower’s journey and legacy on the day of the Mayflower departure, attended by representatives from the UK, US, Netherlands and Wampanoag. There will be schools and mass participation elements, making sure that Plymouth’s residents are at the heart of this special day.

  • 14 September – International Field Gun Competition:

This traditional competition will have its own special event on Plymouth Hoe, with junior and senior teams competing for the prestigious title.

  • 19 to 20 September – Mayflower Muster:

Expect an exciting two-day festival celebrating our military heritage in partnership with the UK, US and Dutch Armed Forces, including live displays, interactive demonstrations and a host of fun activities for families.

More information on these events and other activities taking place in and around Plymouth can be found on the official website: www.mayflower400uk.org
