The 2011 charity fundraising produced a fantastic total of £1016.50.

Cheques were presented to our chosen charities ‘The Chesnut Appeal’  £500) and ‘The Inreach team’ (£516.50) at the members meeting after this years AGM.  Many many thanks to all those who contributed through the year.

2012 Charity

At the February AGM the members chose the charity ‘Ellie’s haven’ to support this year.  Ellie’s haven www.ellies-haven.org.uk is a charity that plans to offer relief to families caring round-the-clock for children suffering long term and life threatening illnesses.

Lots of people have approached me with ideas for raising funds for the charity, before you do something at a meet, please do ask the Stewards if this is OK as they may have something they wish to do instead.

I will try and keep everyone informed of monies raised, if you do something to raise funds for our charity, please  send me a report and any photos so that we can put it in the ‘Chatter’ and on the web.

The fund so far has reached £64.25 (March 2012).

Books for Sale

Judi Couch will be selling second hand books every time she goes out in the field and the proceeds will go to our charity. If you like reading, this is a good way of getting an affordable book to read.

Camping equipment sale

Do you have camping or caravanning equipment you no longer use?  You now have the opportunity of selling it at a table top sale (bring your own table) on Saturday 28^th April at South View, Norris Green meet, between 10-12am.  If you would like to sell anything bring it along on the day, you pay £2 to the charity for selling your goods.

Please note! You will be responsible for removing any of your unsold equipment.

Ethel sadly passed away on Monday 9th April.  Our thoughts are with Charlie and the family during this period.

The funeral takes place at Weston Mill Crematorium on Thursday 19th April at 1:30pm for anyone wishing to attend.  The family wishes Flowers are only provided by the family and any donations are offered to Cancer Research.  No black clothing if you’re attending….only bright and cheery clothing – just how Ethel preferred.

The thoughts and wishes of your DA friends are with you all.

Earth Hour conceived by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), aims to raise awareness about global warming.  The simple action of turning off lights for one hour helps to spread the message that urgent action is needed to combat global warming.

Thanks to Matt Spurling for some great photos from the CCY meet at Forest Glade near Cullompton in Devon during March.  The event was well attended and our CCY Leaders say all youth were well behaved and contributed to what was a great weekend.

Good luck to all those attending the upcoming ‘Working Party’ meets

The 2012 AGM was held this Saturday 25th February 2012 at Whitsands Bay Holiday Park, this being the first weekend meet of 2012.  The weekend was well attended by our campers, some 29 units on site.  The weather was kind to us, quite warm and Sunday starting with glorious sunshine.  We raised around £50 for our charity during the weekend – a  cracking effort everyone.
