Charity Fun at Butchers Arms

Charity Fun at Butchers Arms

Our annual visit to Butchers Arms (near St Ive – Liskeard) included our 2010 charity weekend meet.

The weekend weather was good to us and only deteriorated once the main part of the activities were over.  All who attended had a good time and the D.A. managed to raise a considerable amount for our chosen charity.

Some of the pictures tell their own story, and as can be seen Ian Howe was clearly worrying that we might have a Karaoke event and having seen Wesley warming up knew he would be up against some serious competition.  The Saturday afternoon saw a variety of stalls raising funds finished off with a delicious cream tea.  Before the evening activities the field witnessed a most unusual sight.  Due to his mums generosity Ian Howe found himself setting up his BBQ using corn on the cob husks as an environmentally friendly alternative to his usual charcoal.  The fuel lit well but as far as heat to cook was concerned forget it and horrors of horrors he had to use a gas alternative to complete the cooking, he may be in therapy for weeks.

During the evening a beetle drive and cheese and wine tasting saw the marquee full to overflowing.

At the coffee morning prizes were awarded for the Saturday games with Bill Gibbons winning a lovely punch bowl fountain set.  The raffle saw  numerous prizes being won and amazingly a punch bowl fountain set was the last prize to be drawn (what a coincidence).

Check out the photos here….

Thank you to all who attended for your generosity and to those who ran the weekend, especially Jenny (with crutches for the sympathy vote) well done.
