Liverton Times by Hazel Howe

On arriving at Liverton, a warm welcome was given from the stewards, Joy, Ken Mo and Alan.

The club house has been in full swing every night.

On the first weekend there were 29 units on site, coming from as far afield as Scotland.

The social evening on the Friday night almost raised the roof with all the chatter and banter.

On Saturday night with every seat taken in the club house,    Alan and Ken started the evening with a quiz.   This was followed by a supper of Jacket potatoes with various fillings and salad.

Sadly the long running” prized” bottle of Rose was won by a Devon DA member. Who, much to the dismay of the Alan, actually drank the bottle!   The intention was to use the wine for each quiz during the HS.  Alan prepared a disclaimer, signed by the above DA members that stated they would not receive any future prizes unless they agreed to donate the prize back to the DA.   Luckily the couple understood Alan’s sense of humour and it was taken in good part by all present.

The evening raised £21 for the charity.

Eddie the card shark appeared at the Chase the Ace evening. He had travelled from Hampshire just for the game.

“Ma-ma mia” – What a night. Dot, dot, dot! With all the atmosphere of the Greek island provided by the four “Shirley Valentines,” Ouzo flowed faster than the River Dart on a spring tide.

Owning to the massive amount of Greek food on offer, plate smashing was not an option but there was plenty of singing and another £17 raised for the charity!

Folk music was provided one evening by Dave and June members of the Folk group.

One couple celebrated their Ruby Wedding by providing pasties for all on site.

The evening was finished off with bingo and a sing a long involving the colours of the rainbow.
